Proposal Area Settings allow you to determine what to do with existing proposals in Raiser’s Edge that match the data in your import file. Note that the default matching requires the Proposal Name to be the same in order to update an existing Proposal in the Raiser’s Edge, but you can add additional criteria to that as well via the screen below.

After you determine what constitutes a match, you can opt to add the proposal no matter what, edit/update the existing proposal or defer to the proposal already in the Raiser’s Edge.
